DON’T BE FOOLED or MISLEAD
NATA and what it means!
Having a NATA certificate for the calibration of a load cell, cannot be construed as operating a NATA Endorsed facility.
As like other companies that offer Load Testing, all of our load cells (which measure force) from 2.5tne to 100tne are all calibrated by a company that is NATA endorsed. The Load cells we use are calibrated on a regular basis. We are then issued a certificate to say the load cell has been calibrated and are accurate to use.
This calibration certificate is by no means an endorsement that ours or any other facility is NATA endorsed
What sets us apart is that we operate laboratories in Malaga and Kalgoorlie that are NATA Endorsed. This means our whole testing facility both mobile and in-house is NATA Endorsed, this is a 3rd party assessment that checks we are adhering to our procedures and that we maintain the high standards we claim to set.
Our technicians who are permitted to sign NATA certificates are assessed continually. This means that their competency is of the highest standard and that they know what Australian Standards to apply to particular tests
Having a NATA certificate for the calibration of a load cell, cannot be construed as being a NATA Endorsed facility.
Testing and Loadcell Capacities
The relevant Australian Standard relating to the load testing of Grade 80 chain slings now requires additional testing of the top ring on the sling. To test a 20mm two leg chain sling correctly to the Australian Standard, you need a loadcell with a capacity above 40tne (392.4kn).
Questions you need to ask
- Where are your slings really going to be tested?
- Who is actually testing them?
- Are they being tested correctly?
- Are they infact being tested at all?
- What are you paying for?
